WHY are families so important?

Baha'is believe that we all belong to one human family and that families are the basic building block of communities and healthy nations.
According to the Baha’i Writings: “A family is a nation in miniature. Simply enlarge the circle of the household and you have the nation. Enlarge the circle of nations and you have all humanity.”
It is within the family that the individual is born and nurtured, and individuals begin to learn how to live together with others.
