Special police team targets knife crime in the Midlands

70 ARRESTS IN LAST MONTH ALONE

MORE police on the streets across Birmingham the Black Country and the wider region has seen a number of knife crime arrests and weapons seized.

West Midlands Police has said it has expanded its Project Guardian Taskforce, the force's youth violence and knife crime specialist unit.

It now has five teams instead of four and 50 dedicated officers, whose job is to prevent violence and take weapons off the streets. In the past month the team has made more than 70 arrests and seized almost 70 weapons.
