'Posh' town's jobless rate sees 9% spike

UNEMPLOYMENT IN SUTTON COLDFIELD RISES DESPITE REGIONAL FALL

MANY parts of the West Midlands have seen a fall in unemployment in the second half of this year, in line with a national trend.

But there are some places where the jobless rate has increased, including one of the region’s poshest areas.

Perhaps surprisingly, there has been a spike in unemployment in Sutton Coldfield since the summer, latest figures show.

It has seen the biggest percentage jump anywhere in the West Midlands since the summer, though the overall number of jobless is much lower than other hotspots.
