Perhaps we have a greater need of God in troubled times

IN May we celebrated the 80th anniversary of VE day, the day which saw the ending of the Second World War, at least in Europe.

Earlier this month there were services remembering the 81st anniversary of one of that war's most decisive campaigns: D-Day.

For 80 years now, Europe has lived in relative peace with itself.

There have been no major conflicts and politicians have sought co-operation and collaboration rather than conflict.

Recently however, the world seems to have changed. Europe, indeed the world as a whole, has begun to feel less safe, more threatening than many of us have ever known.
