THOUSANDS OF FAMILIES ARE BEING FINED OVER UNAUTHORISED ABSENCE
Conservative MP Robbie Moore
BIRMINGHAM parents are continuing to ignore rules about taking their children out of school during term time to go on holiday.
Data obtained by the Mail showed thousands of parents are still being fined over unauthorised absences to go on holiday.
The Government has attempted to clamp down on this by hiking fines for parents who break the rules, from £60 to £80.
But many have decided they would still rather take the financial penalty than pay exorbitant costs for holidays during the six-week summer break.
