Mum's terror in canal path sexual attack

FEARS AFTER OFFENDER IS BAILED
A MUM has told how she was sexually assaulted in a terrifying attack on a Birmingham canal towpath.
The 39-year-old was grabbed and pushed towards bushes by a man who followed her and made a sexual demand.
It happened next to the Grand Union Canal in Acocks Green on the evening of Sunday, October 5. There was a struggle before she fled in tears.
Matthew Buffong, 43, of Leybourne Grove, Yardley, admitted sexual assault on at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Thursday, October 16. He was given conditional bail and is due to be sentenced in January.
Reacting to the bail arrangement, the mum said: "It's a bit worrying he's out on the street. To me, the safety of women is not a priority.
"He'll be walking the streets for the next three months. I'm really frustrated with it all."
