MP BACKS GOVERNMENT PROPOSALS TO REDUCE HUGE BACKLOG

BIRMINGHAM has an above average wait time for learners wanting to take their driving tests.
The current wait time stands at 24 weeks - just above the national average of 21.3 weeks.
However, learner drivers are set to benefit from reduced waiting times after the Transport Secretary announced new measures to combat test-buying bots and provide thousands of additional tests every month.
The news is welcome for Birmingham, where an answer to a written parliamentary question last month by Edgbaston MP Preet Gill revealed record waiting times of 24 weeks.
