Jordan helps Ravens shock Spears

ON the agenda for the Sheldon and District Summer League this week were the quarterfinals of their League Cup. Group one leaders Raven Arrows took on third in the same group Highwood and, despite an 11-dart game from Highwood’s John Buckingham, they lost 5-2 to the league leaders.

Langley Arrows are second in group one and they, with maximums from both Simon Power and Paul Nixon won 6-1 against Banbury Club who are top of group two. Although group two's Smithswood Social Club had a maximum from Lewis Franklin, they went down 4-3 to Moseley Rugby Club who are two places off the bottom of the group three table.

The biggest surprise of the round was the 5-2 defeat suffered by group one side Trident Spears who lost 5-2 to Raven, who are in group three, Jordan Grainger notching a maximum for Raven.

In addition to the cup quarterfinals, there were also three rearranged league fixtures played. In group two RAFA were held to a 4-4 home draw by EBAHA, both teams remaining in their respective second from top and second from bottom positions.

There was no joy for group three’s bottom of the table team Shirley Misfits as they went down 6-3 at home to Langley Flights while in group four, Langley Pints moved up one place in the table to third following their convincing 7-1 win at Sheldon Marlborough Flights who drop down one place to fourth.

@ The South West Birmingham Clubs League also had a mixture of cup and league results. In their Divisional Cup finals, the division one contest brought together the top two teams with leaders Northfield Darts Club squaring up to second-placed Stirchley United and, with North-field Darts Club already having one hand on the league title, they won the cup title with a 13-8 victory.

The division two final saw Long-bridge United, who are currently top of the division, take on Bournbrook who are third. Once again the result was 13-8 and again going to the divisional leaders, Longbridge United.
