Inisherin to win Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot

CHRIS WRIGHT AIMS TO BE FIRST PAST THE FINISHING POST WITH TODAY'S TOP TIPS
-
INISHERIN can secure victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (3.40pm) on day five of Royal Ascot this afternoon.
Kevin Ryan’s four-year-old can win the Group One feature on the final day of the Royal meeting at the Berkshire track.
The son of Shamardal had been looked on as a Classic star when winning over the mile on his second start but he was then sent sprinting having been sixth in the 2,000 Guineas last season.
Inisherin won over course and distance at last year’s Royal Ascot, scoring in style in the Group One Commonwealth Cup in June, having won the Group Two Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock Park the previous month.
Stepped into all-age company afterwards, the then three-year-old couldn’t go on from those two fine successes. He was fifth to Mill Stream in the Group One July Cup at Newmarket and then disappointingly was well down the field in 13th behind Montassib as he returned to Haydock for the Group One Sprint Cup in September.
During his winter break Inisherin has had wind surgery and it seemed to have done the trick when he returned to action last month.
He travelled well throughout the Group Two Duke Of York Clipper Stakes on the Knavesmire, under Ryan Moore, and battled to beat the reopposing Flora Of Bermuda to score by a neck.
He is likely to come on plenty for that first run but it was still telling that he had enough about him to win.
Now a four-year-old, he should be more of the finished article and can land another Group One victory at Royal Ascot ahead of chiefly French raiders - Jérôme Reynier’s Lazzat and the Christopher Head-trained Topgear.
