Birmingham Mail

THE Sheldon and District Winter League are up to week 11 of their season and top of the premier league is Highwood, who after their 9-0 win at home over Smithswood Social Club, and the fact that former leaders Sheldon Marlborough Arrows didn’t play, have moved up one place to top the table with 16 points from nine games.

- By ALAN TOWE

Langley Arrows are second, their similar 9-0 win at Mackadown Sports and Social Club taking their points tally to 14 from eight games, the same number of points as Sheldon Marlborough Arrows, who have slipped to third place but have two games in hand on Highwood and one in hand on Langley Arrows.

Banbury Club continue to lead the division one table despite having their home fixture with Sheldon Marlborough Ridge postponed, they are on 16 points from ten games as are second placed Trident Spears whose latest 5-4 home win over Station Inn leaves them 11 legs of average short of the leaders. RAFA Arrows are placed third, they too have 16 points and have played ten games but are 17 legs of average behind Banbury after they won 5-4 at home against Yardley Ex Colts. Fourth and fifth placed Sheldon Marlborough Ridge and Raven are both on 12 points, four off the top, however they have both only played nine games and have one in hand on the top three teams. Langley Flights had a 6-3 home win over Moseley Rugby Club with their Lee Harris notching a maximum.

Langley Pints made it eight wins from nine games in division two, beating their visitors Hollywood Social Club 6-3 to keep them top of the table with 16 points as have CBMC-A who went one better with a 7-2 win at Castle Bromwich Spitfires in what was their tenth fixture. Ryan Jackson hit a maximum for the home team. Third, fourth and fifth placed Shirley Misfits, Maggies and Hollywood Social Club are all on 12 points, Misfits having played nine games, Maggies eight and Hollywood ten.
