Disguised assassin in attempt to shoot man, court told

A WOMAN would-be assassin, disguised by wearing a niqab and a burka, tried to shoot a man outside his Birmingham home, but the pistol jammed, a court heard.

But the woman, US citizen Aimee Betro, 45, returned later to fire three bullets through the bedroom of the home, Birmingham Crown Court is was alleged.

Betro, 45, from Winsconsin, USA has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to murder, possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and fraudulent evasion of a prohibition in relation to the alleged smuggling of ammunition into the UK.

Prosecutor Tom Walkling KC said the case was about three incidents the attempted shooting of a man outside his home, the shooting of bullets through the window of the same home and later the posting of illegal bullets, ammunition, from the USA to the UK.
