Cops have goal to give car crime the red card

POLICE have vowed to nip crime in the bud as the football season started in one of Birmingham's car crime hotspots.
A police team was operating last night as Birmingham City hosted Ipswich Town in the first home game of the new season.
Many fans left Blues’ stadium in Small Heath last season to find their cars had been damaged or stolen by crooks targeting night games.
Last night the aim was to catch suspects right at the start of the fixtures.
Officers from Operation Skybridge, a proactive crime team, were deployed to Small Heath to help crack down on vehicle crimes, burglaries and robberies in the area.
