City optician didn't see his top national award coming

SCOTT FORGOT ABOUT CEREMONY
AN optician named best in the UK forgot to attend the London awards ceremony.
Scott O'Neill was named Dispensing Optician of the Year at the Optician Awards on Saturday.
The national recognition came as a surprise to Scott, mainly because the owner of Doctor Oculus in Digbeth, Birmingham, forgot to attend.
He called the news "equal parts brilliant and embarrassing"
Scott attributes the success of his business to "just being a normal human being" with no targets or scripts.
The Custard Factory optician called it "encouraging" that people still want to support independent businesses.
