Cancer 'lollipop' researcher calls for fun runners

A BIRMINGHAM researcher who is developing a lollipop to detect mouth cancer is urging people to join Race for Life and support more life-saving research.

Dr Ruchi Gupta, from the University of Birmingham, will sound the starter horn to lead the charge at Cancer Research UK's Race for Life in Sutton Coldfield on Sunday, July 6.

Money raised at Race for Life will help scientists find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.

Dr Gupta's Race for Life appeal comes after she was shortlisted for a prestigious award for 'Entrepreneurial Group Leader' by Cancer Research Horizons. The company was set up by Cancer Research UK to take cutting edge innovations in research and treatment from the bench to the bedside.
