COALITION SETS OUT 10-POINT SAFETY PLAN

- JANE HAYNES News Reporter

ROAD safety campaigners are today calling for urgent action to prevent more carnage and deaths in Birmingham amid a fresh spate of shocking crashes.

Regional road safety commissioner Mat MacDonald is backing a coalition of 16 organisations in the city pressing for ten changes to prevent more deaths.

So far this week - National Road Safety Week - a pedestrian has died following a hit-and-run crash in Harborne while another has been critically injured following a collision on Tuesday on Lawley Middleway.

The renewed call for action comes after an emotional service to mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, organised by the charity RoadPeace West Midlands and West Mercia, where families shared heartfelt tributes and joined in calling for action to prevent avoidable deaths and injuries.
