Business group: We didn't give permission
October 09, 2025
|Birmingham Mail
A BIRMINGHAM business group stressed it had ‘no involvement’ with putting up England flags in Harborne after a number of them appeared ‘without permission’.
-
The flags were pinned to lampposts along the area's High Street on Sunday, October 5, by group ‘Raise the Colours’.
The local Business Improvement District (BID), which uses business levies to make improvements to the suburb, said it had “no prior knowledge” the flags were going up.
A Harborne BID spokesman said: “The Harborne Village Business Improvement District (BID) is aware that a number of flags were installed on lamp columns along Harborne High Street on Sunday, without permission or prior consultation.
“We would like to make it clear that the Harborne Village BID had no involvement in, or prior knowledge of, this activity.
“The installation of these flags was not authorised by the BID, the city council, or any organisation officially connected with the management of Harborne High Street.
