UNAI Emery’s Aston Villa have cemented their place in the history books by winning the club’s first major European trophy in 44 years, beating SC Freiburg 3-0 in Istanbul.
Emi Buendia scores his team's second goal in some style
With Europa League glory secured, Villa's modern-day legends have become immortal, with the likes John McGinn, Tyrone Mings, Ollie Watkins, Matty Cash, and Emi Martinez all spending six or more years in claret and blue.
Youri Tielemans and Emi Buendia scored Villa's first half goals - both strikes fitting of the occasion and goal-of-the-season contenders - before Morgan Rogers added a third before the hour mark.
Villa started brightly, with Rogers testing Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu in just the second minute, his long-range effort pushed away. Shortly after, McGinn had Philipp Treu booked, as the German side went man-for-man and Villa's skipper spun his marker with ease before being pulled back.
