Attack on leaders accused of 'running town with iron fist'

THREE departing Conservative councillors in Walsall launched a scathing attack on leaders at a full council meeting.

Councillors Suky Samra, Waheed Rasab and Sarah-Jane Cooper hit out at their colleagues at their final meeting.

Councillor Samra said “two individuals running the town with an iron fist” is the reason why Walsall is deprived, referring to leader Councillor Mike Bird and deputy Councillor Adrian Andrew.

Councillor Rasab said members who try to speak out and stand up for residents were subjected to bullying and intimidation.

Councillor Sarah-Jane Cooper added that choices by the leader and deputy have raised “more questions than confidence”.
