Job security for NFL head coaches has reached an all-time low.
A whopping eight of them were pink-slipped during or after the past regular season, the most ever.
Especially alarming: two were one-and-dones. The New York Jets axed Aaron Glenn and the Las Vegas Raiders handed Pete Carroll his walking papers after just one campaign on the job.
You can blame these two firings on the instant head coaching success of the Seattle Seahawks Mike Macdonald, Mike Vrable with the New England Patriots and Ben Johnson of the Chicago Bears.
McDonald went 10-7 a year ago in his first campaign as head coach of the struggling Seahawks and then this season steered the Seahawks to the Super Bowl.
Vrable engineered the Pats remarkable turnaround this season, winning the AFC East and advancing to the Super Bowl.
