US ending TPS scheme for citizens
November 26, 2025
|Bangkok Post
The Trump administration announced on Monday that it was ending temporary protections shielding immigrants from Myanmar from deportation from the United States.
-
The move affects around 4,000 people from the Southeast Asian nation who have been living in the United States under what is known as Temporary Protected Status.
TPS protects its holders from deportation and allows them to work. It is granted to people deemed to be in danger if they return to their home countries, because of war, natural disaster or other extraordinary circumstances.

Ending violence against women
Every year, on Nov 25th, the world marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. This day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999, commemorating the brutal assassination of the Mirabal Sisters in the Dominican Republic in 1960. Three courageous women who dared to oppose a violent regime. Their story became a symbol of resistance and a call to action, reminding us that violence against women is not only a personal tragedy but a societal failure that demands collective response.
