A honeymoon period seems out of the question for the new administration led by the Bhumjaithai Party, which may come into office in late April or May, depending on how quickly the processes of electing the House Speaker and his two deputies, and the election of the prime minister in parliament, take place.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, as leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, leads party-list and constituency MPs to report for duty at parliament.
(CHANAT)
Currently, MPs from most parties have reported to parliament for registration, with the exception of the People's Party's MPs — a practice that has led to suspicion the party may be engaging in some political games after its attempt to have the Feb 8 election nullified and a nationwide reelection held was rejected by the Election Commission.
Latest reports suggest the party's MPs will report to parliament today for registration, putting an end to the suspicions.
After all, we need a fully functioning government in place as quickly as possible to deal with the war situation in the Middle East, which could have catastrophic consequences for the world, Thailand included, as we rely on oil and gas supplies from the region.
As the war in the Middle East rages on, even US President Donald Trump cannot say when it will end. His initial prediction that the war would last about a month appears to have been a serious miscalculation of the resolve of the Iranian leadership, military and its people.
Following the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and about 30 top regime figures in a surgical strike at the start of the war by the US and Israel, there has been no mass uprising by the oppressed Iranian people and no regime change.
