State training scheme fails to attract entrepreneurs

The government's upskilling and reskilling programme for small entrepreneurs under the “Khon La Khrueng Plus” (half-half plus) scheme has attracted only 98,930 small merchants, or 24% of the targeted 400,000 participants.
According to Pongnakorn Pochakorn, director of the Bureau of Financial Inclusion Policy and Development, from Nov 19 to Dec 19 a total of 98,930 merchants successfully completed skill development activities.
The merchants were classified by the channels through which the skills were developed, such as registering them on food delivery platforms, completing and meeting the criteria of online training programmes offered by Government Savings Bank (GSB) and the Department of Business Development, and participating in the Commerce Ministry's SME Startup courses.
