Sept 9 set for Thaksin PGH court ruling

No surprise he was ill, says Wissanu
The Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Persons Holding Political Positions will deliver its ruling on former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s extended stay at the Police General Hospital (PGH) instead of prison on Sept 9.
The announcement was made at the close of the last day of hearings in the case yesterday.
It included testimony from former deputy prime minister Wissanu Kreangam, one of Thaksin’s three witnesses. Mr Wissanu was acting justice minister when Thaksin returned to Thailand on Aug 22, 2023.
Within hours Thaksin was sentenced and quickly referred to the PGH. He stayed there for six months until his parole.
Some believe he cheated the justice system as he was able to avoid even one night of jail time.
