School shooting suspect arrested

Police yesterday shot and wounded an 18-year-old male suspect who earlier stormed Phatong Prathan Khiriwat School in Hat Yai district of this southern province with a seized firearm, says the Central Investigation Bureau.

At press time, the suspect had been shot and arrested by police.
Local police confirmed the suspect, identified as "Khem", is a student of the school.
The suspect had earlier in the day opened fire with a seized firearm inside the school, injuring a teacher and several students, with reports emerging that some had been taken hostage. Their immediate fate was unclear.
