EC rejects calls for overseas extension

The Election Commission (EC) yesterday explained it cannot extend the registration period for out-of-constituency and overseas voting in the charter referendum.

It said strict deadlines and logistical reasons made an extension impossible.

The clarification followed calls to extend the Jan 3-5 registration window. Former Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat proposed extending overseas registration until Jan 8, saying the issue was not about political advantage but about protecting voters' basic rights.
