'Pump Radar' helps drivers hunt for gas

The Energy Ministry is advancing digital tracking, supporting a citizen-built fuel app and preparing a platform to monitor oil availability across the country.
Sarawut Kaewtathip, director-general of the Department of Energy Business, yesterday outlined efforts to improve public access to real-time fuel information amid supply concerns linked to the Middle East war.
He highlighted a public initiative by Chanon Ngernthongdee, who created the “Pump Radar” application, enabling users to check which petrol stations are still selling fuel and share updates on fuel availability.
The app also allows people to input data updating oil status from gas stations they visit.
He said the ministry has coordinated with the developer to strengthen the system, encouraging petrol station operators to directly input data.
