Oil pipeline rules reformed in bid to increase transport

The Department of Energy Business (DOEB) is preparing measures to promote oil transport via pipelines by removing legal barriers to the development of oil separation facilities.
A section of an oil pipeline operated by Electricity Generating's subsidiary, TPN. The pipeline runs between Saraburi and Khon Kaen.
Officials said the move is meant to strengthen the efficiency of the country's energy logistics system.
The department wants oil traders and logistics operators to fully benefit from the pipeline network, which has reduced problems associated with truck transport such as road congestion, accidents, rapid road deterioration from heavy vehicles, and pollution caused by oil-loaded trucks.
