New York attorney general indicted over fraud claims

New York Attorney General Letitia James was indicted by a grand jury in Virginia, according to people familiar with the matter, following calls from President Donald Trump for her prosecution.

The indictment follows allegations from Trump administration officials that James engaged in mortgage fraud. She was charged with alleged bank fraud, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified discussing the matter.
Ms James has denied committing mortgage fraud and a lawyer for Ms James did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the indictment.
