Hotel worker held for room entry bid

A hotel employee accused of attempting to enter a female guest's room late at night was taken into custody yesterday afternoon and brought before the Phuket Provincial Court, where he pleaded guilty to attempted nighttime trespass.
Police sought his detention for 48 days, with no bail application filed.
The incident occurred at the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach in Cherng Talay sub-district and has sparked public concern over tourist safety, prompting inspections by provincial authorities.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Sunday, the hotel issued a public apology and said it was taking the matter seriously. It stressed that guest safety and privacy were its highest priorities and said it had reported the incident to police while reviewing and strengthening its security procedures.
