Heat back on SAO

A music video released by the State Audit Office (SAO) came at just the right time.

Without this house track, the harrowing collapse of its under-construction building might have begun to fade from public attention.

The 30-storey building, intended to serve as the SAO headquarters, collapsed after a quake centred in Myanmar hit Bangkok on March 28 last year.

The high death toll — nearly 100 killed — and a series of scandals surrounding the 2-billion-baht project have inarguably tarnished the SAO's image and reputation.

The music video, Aspirations of SAO, has reignited public anger, drawing 1.2 million views in just 24 hours, as it effectively reminds the public that almost one year has passed and no one at the SAO has been held accountable for the disaster.

So far, scores of executives from construction, design and consultancy firms have been indicted.
