GPO boosts production of antivirals

Covid infections on rise in rainy season
The Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO) has accelerated the production of the anti-viral favipiravir and molnupiravir drugs in response to the rising number of Covid-19 infections.
GPO director Mingkwan Suphanpong yesterday explained that the dominant strain currently is JN1, which is highly transmissible even among those previously infected.
Those who have been infected hardly realise, he said, due to the mild symptoms it produces.
The increase in cases is partly due to public gatherings and the rainy season, with Covid-19 now considered an endemic disease.
