Govt looks to rev up GBC talks at border

Sets deadline to relocate Cambodians

The governmentis pushing to accelerate General Border Committee (GBC) discussions to ensure all Cambodian nationals residing in Ban Nong Chan are relocated before parliament is dissolved, Defence Minister Gen Nattaphon Narkphanit said.

Gen Nattaphon yesterday outlined three ongoing operations along the Thai-Cambodian border: clearing landmines, installing temporary boundary markers in Ban Nong Ya Kaeo and Ban Nong Chan in Sa Kaeo's Khok Sung district, and constructing new border fencing in Chanthaburi and Trat.

He said all operations were progressing well and said Thailand would not tolerate encroachment by Cambodia.
