GH Bank assesses rugged real estate outlook

Government Housing (GH) Bank views the domestic real estate outlook as challenging this year due to low economic growth.

According to newly appointed president Mahatana Ampornpisit, Thailand's real estate market remains under pressure given weak economic growth and elevated household debt. These factors could affect purchasing power, particularly among lowand middle-income earners, who make up the majority of the bank’s customer base, which would impact the bank’s loan growth, he said.

GH Bank is preparing to adapt by focusing on grassroots customers while maintaining credit quality, said Mr Mahatana.

He expressed hope that the new government would prioritise stimulus for the real estate sector, which would support stronger loan growth for the bank.
