Cyberattack forces airport to cancel additional flights

Brussels Airport cancelled half its departing flights scheduled for yesterday, as technical problems with check-in systems stretched into a third day after a cyberattack disrupted travel at major European hubs over the weekend.

The airport's announcement Sunday came a day after at least three other airports — Berlin-Brandenburg, Dublin and London Heathrow — said the cyberattack had also hindered their check-in and boarding processes.

Brussels Airport, which appeared to have been most affected by the disruption, made the decision to cancel the flights, saying it had not been able to confirm that the software used for check-in and boarding systems was “restored and secure”.

The Associated Press, citing information from the airport, reported that the decision would affect nearly 140 of 276 scheduled departures.
