Court holds suspect in trans killing

A Chinese man, who admitted to having savagely killed a Thai trans-woman in Pattaya after she allegedly refused to have sex with him, has been remanded in custody by the Pattaya Provincial Court.
Fu Tongyung, 42, was taken to Pattaya police station to face further questioning yesterday after being arrested at Suvarnabhumi airport in Samut Prakan on Saturday while attempting to flee the country.
He admitted to killing 25-year-old Woranan Pannaka, a native of Nong Khai, during initial questioning.
Authorities said the suspect later mutilated her body in a gruesome act he described as wanting to "play" with it.
Yesterday, the interrogation was carried out through an interpreter, after which, Mr Fu was taken to the court where he was remanded in custody.
