Army restricts fuel exports to Laos

The military has suspended exports of all fuel products and military equipment to Laos through the Chong Mek border crossing in Ubon Ratchathani's Sirindhorn district, following intelligence reports alleging that fuel and weapons were being diverted to Cambodia.

Defence Ministry spokesman, RAdm Surasant Kongsiri, said the move was necessary as Cambodian forces are using heavy weapons to strike civilian targets in Thai territory.

"The key reason for the order was intelligence indicating that fuel and equipment exported via Laos were being forwarded to Cambodia for military use," he said.

Authorities have also detected abnormal increases in fuel exports to Laos, with over 180 truckloads crossing the border in just five days since fighting began, compared with 281 trucks for the entirety of last month.
