Flight hub records largest increase in cargo tonnage across UK

Cargo activity at Prestwick Airport has soared by an incredible 492 per cent in the last year, new figures reveal.

It represents the largest increase in cargo tonnage in the UK - with an extra 12,000 tonnes compared to Q1 in 2025.

The numbers, revealed by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, come as Prestwick significantly expands its links to the Far East.

A Prestwick spokesperson said: "These figures represent a transformational period for the airport and are a clear endorsement of our long-term business development strategy with customer growth at its core.

"By targeting high-growth sectors such as e-commerce, expanding our international airline partnerships and supporting Scotland's world-class seafood and whisky export industries, we have created a strong platform for sustained cargo growth.
