A paramedic had to give up her job after she was attacked by a patient being treated for a drug overdose.

Ryan Watson grabbed the woman’s hand and bent it backwards, leaving her in excruciating pain.

Airdrie Sheriff Court heard she has twice undergone surgery for the injury sustained and is awaiting a third operation.

Watson, 25, of Hillview, Greengairs, admitted assaulting his victim to her severe injury, permanent disfigurement and impairment at a house in Hillhead Drive, Airdrie, on March 24, 2023.
