UPI peer-to-peer 'collect requests' to phase out

Move, which will come into effect from Oct 1, aims at reducing fraud

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), operator of the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), has directed banks and payment service providers to discontinue all peer-to-peer (P2P) "collect requests" starting October 1, 2025, in a move aimed at curbing fraudulent activities.

A "collect request," also known as a pull transaction, lets one user send a payment request to another through UPI. While this feature will remain available for merchant transactions, it will no longer be permitted between individual users.
