Another cache of 500 fake India-Pak tickets seized, 2 held; cops to deploy teams to tackle likely chaos due to convergence of fake and genuine ticket buyers at NaMo Stadium
The excitement for the India-Pakistan One Day International (ODI) cricket match has hit a snare. A major fake ticket scam with city police seizing 650 fake tickets so far, has been revealed, and the count is rising.
The scam added a new twist with the arrest of two individuals, including a 12th-grade student believed to be the mastermind. His accomplice, Pradeep Thakor, a second-year BBA student, was also apprehended. The supplier of the fake tickets, Vicky Chauhan, remains elusive.
These counterfeit tickets, bearing price tags of Rs 6,000 and Rs 4,500, were sold at an exorbitant markup, fetching ten times their face value.
