'Green' improvements at leisure centre thanks to £241k Sport England cash

UPGRADES will be made to Hyndburn Leisure Centre throughout this month to enhance the centre’s environmental performance.

A grant of £241,000 from Sport England’s Swimming Pool Support Fund was allocated last year and now preparations are being made to deliver the project.
The funding will support substantial improvements, including a comprehensive update to the Centre's Building Energy Management System (BEMS) and the installation of new, energy-efficient air handling fans.
These critical upgrades are specifically designed to reduce the Centre’s energy consumption, lower its carbon footprint, and improve resilience for future operations.
Jo Mortimer, Head of Operations at Hyndburn Leisure, said: “We are thrilled that the Council has been successful in securing this much-needed funding.
