Powerful Park show champion qualities

SUPER Sedgley Park Tigers finished off their season with another bonus-point win, although they didn’t have it all their own way.

Powerful Park show champion qualities

Their first try came after five minutes when Andrew Riley latched onto a short kick that had been kicked over the Otley defence, running in the remaining ten metres, Stephen Collins added the conversion.

Otley then started to get a little territory and, after a couple of penalties, made it to Park’s 22.

The home side then moved the ball left before a high tackle gave Callum Irvine the opportunity to open the scoring for Otley.

The tables were turned and Sedgley were back in Otley’s half and, with Irvine in the sin-bin, on the half-hour Joe Bedlow burst through the Otley defence to score from 25 metres out.

Rugby's holy trinity prove the difference

SINCE time immemorial, rugby has been cloaked in its own cliches: Prince Obolensky was always “dashing”; Colin Meads lived his life as an “unsmiling giant”; Martin Johnson was rarely anything other than “beetle-browed”; and Billy Vunipola, easier to stop with an elephant gun than he is with a Taser according to recent evidence from a late-night bar in Mallorca, will forever be known as “the man who shamed the shirt he wasn’t wearing”.
