Curry and Creevy prepare to join forces
October 29, 2023
|The Rugby Paper
TOM Curry and Agustin Creevy were on opposite sides on Friday night when England faced Argentina in the World Cup play-off – but they will join up with Sale this week raring to get stuck into the Premiership.
It was an eventful week for Curry who ended it by winning his 50th England cap. A World Rugby investigation into a racial remark made to the flanker during last weekend’s World Cup semi-final against South Africa by hooker Bongi Mbonambi concluded there was not enough evidence to take the matter further.
“I spoke to Tom last week about his recovery period,” said Alex Sanderson, Sale’s director of rugby. “I told him he needs to take a week off having played back to back Tests, but he said he wanted to come back in on Monday.
“It was a great sign because he wants to maintain momentum and he is excited about coming back. I will wait to see how he feels when he comes in.”
Hooker Creevy is a new recruit following the collapse of London Irish. His family is still in Reading but he has also offered to report for training tomorrow.
“He has been involved in all of Argentina’s games but he is prepared to come straight in,” said Sanderson “Bevan Rodd (the England prop) is also chomping at the bit.
“I have given them licence to have a week off and will find another one for them down the line, but they are saying no.”
