Barbarian test will give me a chance
May 28, 2023
|The Rugby Paper
ADAM Radwan aims to use the warm sun and “iconic” Barbarians jersey on his back to give Steve Borthwick a gentle nudge in his explosive, speedy direction.
The 25-year-old lines up against a World XV this afternoon at Twickenham for what is sure to be a fast and furious try-fest in perfect attacking rugby conditions. And he is still dreaming of flying to France with England later this year.
Radwan has slipped down the international wing pecking order since winning the second of his Test caps against Tonga 18 months ago. And he has just endured a miserable season where Newcastle have finished bottom in the Premiership table and the flyer himself failing to hit the heights in terms of performances and tries.
But Radwan is an optimist and is certainly not giving up hope on a World Cup spot in France. A few tries and one of his special scintillating displays with ball in hand at Twickenham today would do the trick having enjoyed a fresh chance to work under the guidance of the man who gave him his Test debut in 2021.
Eddie Jones clearly felt Radwan was capable of shining on the highest stage and the player insists: “The World Cup is getting closer and, obviously, it is at the back of my mind. It’s something I am working towards and I need to ensure I am playing well, training well, and if the opportunity comes that I am in a position to take it.
