A JOHN ROONEY brace and goals from Alex Hurst and Alex Curran helped Macclesfield to victory over Halesowen Town in the Isuzu FA Trophy first round.
The Silkmen began brilliantly and got their reward in the 14th minute when Hurst netted his first goal for the club.
It was fantastic work from Kane Drummond to set up the goal, ahis run ending in an accurate cross to give Hurst the simple task of scoring from inside the six-yard box.
Rooney's first was arguably the pick of the bunch, as he received the ball from 25 yards out and fired the ball into the underside of the crossbar and in to give Macclesfield a well-deserved two-goal advantage after 25 minutes.
