PROUD WHITE ON A MISSION TO REPRODUCE WANDS MAGIC

The Surrey side had enjoyed 12 promotions in their 25-year history, riding the crest of a wave to the National League where they spent two seasons before being relegated back to Step 2 in April.

For proud Wands chairman and manager White it was a blow after sustained success which saw Dorking rise from park football to the Non-League summit.

"I'm as gutted now as I was on the day we went down," he said. "To finish 16th in our first season training two evenings a week was really good and this time we went to two mornings, still part-time.

"If it could have gone wrong, it did. Everything across the year went against us: the ball a foot over the line at Oldham away and not given, massive foul on the keeper with the last kick of the game at Bromley, two ACL injuries, one MCL.

"The players lost 240 matches (to injury) between them we went through the season watching it unfold and even in my heart of hearts I wanted to find positives but I could see and I knew what was happening.
