From initial concept to grand execution, the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) has been the driving force behind the recently inaugurated Jagannath Dham temple in Digha. This ambitious spiritual project, first announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in December 2019, saw construction begin in May 2022, culminating in its successful opening on April 30, 2025.
HIDCO, West Bengal's key infrastructure and development agency, was entrusted with the monumental task of constructing the entire Jagannath Dham complex. Demonstrating remarkable efficiency, the agency swiftly translated vision into reality. The project commenced with the Digha-Shankarpur Development Authority providing approximately 30 acres. HIDCO then took the reins, overseeing the comprehensive development with an estimated ₹200-250 crore in state government funding.
