THE WORLD'S BEST HOSPITALS SMART 2024
September 22, 2023
|Newsweek Europe
MEDICINE AND TECHNOLOGY ARE entwined, as some of the most significant medical advances have been made possible only through technological innovation.
Today, we are seeing the rise of smart technologies that share medical information faster and more accurately while providing improved patient care.
For the third year, Newsweek and Statista are proud to share the World's Best Smart Hospitals 2024. This list awards 330 hospitals from 28 countries that stand out for their use of electronic functionalities, telemedicine, digital imaging, AI and robotics. See Newsweek.com/ wbsh-2024 for the full list; a smaller number appears in print due to space constraints.
Hospitals on our list include well-respected facilities like Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital in the U.S., Charite-Universitätsmedizin Berlin in Germany, Samsung Medical Center in South Korea and Sheba Medical Center in Israel. We hope our ranking is helpful in finding the right hospital for yourself or a loved one.
METHODOLOGY
Smart Hospitals use state-of-the-art technology to fundamentally rethink how care is delivered within the health system. Taking advantage of these new technologies can not only improve care delivery outcomes and efficiencies within the hospital but can help to drive health goals around prevention, population health and quality of life outcomes.

MELISSA PETERMAN
FOR MELISSA PETERMAN, THE FIRST SEASON OF NBC'S HAPPY'S PLACE WAS A dream come true; getting a second season is an embarrassment of riches. “Getting a pilot is the lottery. Getting that pilot picked up is another gigantic win that is getting rarer and rarer.” Peterman plays Gabby, friend and co-worker of Bobbie, played by Reba McEntire, owner of the fictional tavern Happy’s Place. The sitcom reunites Peterman and McEntire, who first appeared together on Reba. “I think there is value in the second banana. There's value in the sidekick.” While fans see her as way more than just a sidekick, Peterman knows how rare it is to get a second chance with a hit sitcom. “It’s almost more precious because I know how rare it is to get a second chance with your best friend.” Busier than ever, Peterman also co-hosts Hallmark's Finding Mr. Christmas. “I would be really sad if I didn’t get to host a game show or go be with people. I genuinely like people.”
