Change of 'Seasons’
November 05, 2022
|New Zealand Listener
A touring show hopes to change attitudes towards people with intellectual disabilities.
Orchestral musicians work with dancers all the time, but less often with dance companies such as Jolt. The organisation, an inclusive dance company that works with people with intellectual disabilities, is teaming up with members of Christchurch Symphony Orchestra for The Seasons, as part of Chamber Music New Zealand’s CMNZ Series.
“It’s an important production,” says Jolt general manager Mark La Roche. “Not just for the disability community but for all New Zealand to see artists with intellectual disabilities working alongside professional mainstream musicians. This is not community engagement, it’s a professional concert stage.”
