Glamour, elegance, prestige— three words that have come to characterise Tatler Philippines over its now 21-year-long history.
Indeed, the country’s Who’s Who all agree that being featured in its pages is one of the hallmarks of reaching the apex of one’s position in society.
Style-watchers and design doyennes, on the other hand, leaf through it month after month to stay abreast of what is heading down the catwalk in the world’s fashion capitals or architectural marvels rising in their midst and the furnishings in their interiors.
But fashion is notoriously fickle, and individual titans’ fortunes rise and fall over time. In this case, the magazine has opted to mirror the world around it: changing with the passing seasons and growing from the nation’s bible of style into a publication with a vital purpose.
“Tatler has always been at the heart of the country’s culture, lifestyle, social and luxury setting,” editor-in-chief Anton San Diego says of the magazine he has led for 21 years. “[But] I see adding timeliness, inspiration and relevance to the mix.”
Tatler managing director Irene Martel Francisco adds, “The way [the magazine] is today, it’s less flash [and] more substance. You will see that people [are here] because of relevance, purpose, and making a difference.”
